PU has largely transitioned from the ancient annual system to the modern semester system, but many legacy professors still grade like it's 1995.
1. Understanding Absolute Grading
Unlike FAST or NUST, most departments at PU rely heavily on an absolute grading scale. This means an 85% is a flat 'A', regardless of how poorly the rest of the class performs. You are not competing against a curve; you are purely competing against the raw syllabus and your professor's strict marking scheme.
2. The Language Barrier in Exams
Many students fail theory-heavy PU exams (like BS Political Science or Sociology) not because of poor concepts, but because of weak English structuring. PU professors frequently reward long, heavily detailed, multi-page essay answers. Writing a short 3-line bullet-point answer will result in a heavy loss of marks, even if it is completely factually correct.
3. Navigating Departmental Politics
PU is highly compartmentalized. The PUCIT (IT Department) operates completely differently from the Hailey College of Commerce. Tailor your study habits entirely to your specific dean's rules. If a professor demands attendance via a physical register call, never attempt to proxy it.
