How to Choose Elective Subjects Wisely
Electives are not just "padding." In the Pakistani university system, poor elective choices will permanently trap your GPA.
1. The GPA Booster vs. Skill Builder Conflict
Many students universally select default "easy" electives (like Basic Management or Sociology) merely to pad their GPA. This is a tactical error if you are in a technical degree. Use electives instead to bridge gaps. A CS student choosing a "Financial Accounting" elective is drastically increasing their value to fintech companies like Sadapay. You must choose electives that build a secondary corporate skill.
2. Infiltrating "Senior" Intelligence Networks
Never pick an elective based solely on its title. "Intro to AI" might sound incredible, but if the assigned professor historically fails 40% of the class, you are walking into a trap. You absolutely must consult your seniors (often via WhatsApp groups or Discord) to verify the professor’s grading curve. In Pakistan, the grading leniency of the professor determines the elective’s value, not the syllabus.
3. Prerequisite Traps
Before selecting an advanced 6th-semester elective, strictly check its prerequisites in the university handbook. If you select "Advanced Networking" but failed the prerequisite "Data Communications" in your 4th semester, the portal will silently drop you from the class two weeks in, leaving you short on graduation credits.
