5 GPA Myths Pakistani University Students Must Stop Believing
Myth 1: "GPA doesn't matter, only skills do."
While actual coding or engineering skills matter most in the technical round, a 2.5 CGPA will cause HR bots to automatically filter out your resume before a human even sees it. A 3.0+ is necessary to cross the threshold for basic corporate screening.
Myth 2: "The First Semester is easy, I'll relax now."
Semester 1 contains basic subjects (Calculus 1, English, Intro to IT). This is practically free GPA. Securing a 3.7+ here acts as an armor shield when harder core subjects inevitably drag your grades down in semesters 4 and 6.
Myth 3: "If I beg the teacher, they will curve my grade."
In top universities (NUST, FAST, COMSATS), grading curves are formula-based, entered into an automated CMS. A teacher cannot simply 'gift' you an A if your absolute combined percentiles don't match the statistical curve minimums.
Myth 4: "Failing a quiz means I'll fail the subject."
A 10-mark quiz is usually worth 2.5% of your total grade. Even scoring a zero leaves 97.5% of the grade achievable. Do not let one bad quiz mentally destroy your midterm prep.
