FAST Merit Calculation Guide 2026: Aggregate Formula & Strategy
Getting into FAST-NUCES requires understanding their highly specific internal testing matrix.
1. The Dual Admission Pathways
FAST allows admission through two primary pathways:
- FAST Internal Test (NU Test): 50% NU Test + 50% FSc/A-Levels.
- NTS NAT Basis: Usually requires highly exceptional NTS scores depending on the campus. The NU test is mathematically grueling. It includes an infamous negative marking system. Attempt the NU Test if your basic calculus speed is elite.
2. The Negative Marking Trap
The NU Test deducts 0.25 marks for every wrong answer. If you blind-guess 20 advanced math questions and get them wrong, you wipe out the points from 5 perfectly correct answers. In the NU Test, skipping a question you don't confidently know is a strategic victory.
3. Safe Cutoffs (Lahore vs Regional Campuses)
For CS at the Lahore or Islamabad campuses, an aggregate of 73%+ is usually safe. If your aggregate drops to the late 60s, you must strategically pivot to less saturated campuses like FAST Faisalabad or Chiniot-Faisalabad, where the cutoffs are structurally lower.
