FAST GPA Guide 2026: Surviving the Deadliest Curves
FAST is notorious globally for maintaining a viciously low grading curve. A 3.0 CGPA at FAST commands more industry respect than a 3.8 anywhere else.
1. The Assignment Overload Strategy
FAST will absolutely suffocate you with programming assignments. Missing one assignment seems harmless (maybe it’s worth 2%), but missing it means you fail to learn the logic required for the 25% midterm. You cannot skip assignments at FAST. You must write every line of code yourself.
2. The "Absolute Relative" Grading
FAST frequently drops the hammer on relative grading. If an exam is incredibly difficult and the highest score is 45/100, the professor might set the 'A' threshold at 40. However, if the exam is too easy and everyone scores 95, you might score an 88 and receive a C+. You must perform better than your peers, not just clear the textbook.
3. Survive Semester 3
Semester 3 at FAST (usually containing Data Structures and Computer Architecture) is historically the great filter. This is where 30% of the batch drops out or switches to a BBA. Clear your schedule entirely. Do not take freelance jobs. Focus purely on survival.
