The University of the Punjab (PU) merit calculator is designed to help prospective students compute their aggregate score for undergraduate admissions. Admissions at PU are based on a weighted combination of your past academic scores and entry test performance.
The default aggregate formula for PU admissions is:
To apply for undergraduate admission at PU, students must meet the minimum percentage criteria in Intermediate exams (usually 50% to 60% depending on engineering, computer science, or business disciplines). Additionally, passing the required entrance tests (PU Admission Test, GAT) is mandatory.
For the majority of BS programs, PU uses the standardized formula: Merit = (Matric % × 0.25) + (HSSC % × 0.50) + (PU Admission Test % × 0.25). Final merit can change by department, category, deductions (2% per gap year), and Hafiz-e-Quran marks.
PU Admission Test includes MCQs from Mathematics, English, General Knowledge, and Analytical Reasoning corresponding to your chosen test group (e.g. Pre-Engineering, Pre-Medical, ICS).
