1. The Relative Grading Curve (The Z-Score)
NUST employs strict relative grading. Scoring an 85% raw mark does not guarantee an 'A'. If the class average is an 88% (which happens frequently in easier courses), an 85% will get you a B or a C+. You must consistently beat the class mean by a massive standard deviation to secure an 'A'.
2. Lab Manual Dominance
In engineering, lab courses are heavily weighted (often 1 or 2 credit hours). Do not just show up to the lab and lazily connect wires. Your performance on the Lab Viva (oral examination by the instructor) controls your grade. Understand the core physics behind the circuit, not just the connection layout.
3. OHTs (Midterms) Are Everything
NUST runs an OHT-1, OHT-2, and Final structure. Missing an OHT due to illness is disastrous. NUST policies regarding makeup OHTs are highly rigid. Protect your physical health during weeks 6 and 12, because taking a zero on an OHT guarantees your GPA will not cross a 3.0.
