NUST Admission Guide 2026 — NET Preparation and Merit Strategy
NUST is the pinnacle of engineering and IT in Pakistan. Admission depends entirely on conquering the NUST Entry Test (NET).
1. Understand the NET Weightage
The NET constitutes a massive 75% of your total admission aggregate. You can have average FSc marks, but a stellar NET score (150+/200) will secure your admission. Conversely, 95% in FSc won't save you if you bomb the NET.
2. The Math Section is Brutal
For pre-engineering/CS students, Math is 40% of the entire NET (80 questions out of 200). The math questions are highly conceptual, specifically testing Conic Sections, Calculus, and Trigonometry. Rote memorization of FSc formulas will fail here. You must know the geometric properties behind the equations. Use OETP books specifically designed for NET.
3. Apply Multiple Times
NUST holds multiple series of the NET (NET-1, NET-2, NET-3, NET-4). Always give the NET at least twice. Your highest score is the one calculated. The first attempt acts as shock therapy to understand the strict time limits (200 MCQs in 3 hours).
