LUMS SBASSE Admissions Guide 2026: Cracking the Science School
The Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering (SBASSE) at LUMS is highly selective. Its admission process relies more on holistic evaluations than standard engineering universities.
1. The SAT / LUMS Scientific Aptitude Test
You must take either the SAT alongside the LUMS Scientific Aptitude Test (LSAT). The math and conceptual reasoning required here are heavily analytical. A high SAT score (1450+) significantly boosts your profile, but it does not guarantee admission if your core science foundation is weak.
2. The Personal Statement
LUMS cares deeply about why you want to study science. Your personal statement must reflect genuine curiosity, past projects, or a clear vision for the future. Do not use generic AI-generated essays; the admissions committee detects generalized structures instantly.
3. Extracurriculars Matter
Unlike NUST or UET, which only look at raw academic numbers, LUMS requires a rounded profile. Leadership roles in school societies, science fair participations (like Intel ISEF), or independent coding projects will heavily aid your application.
4. The Interview
Shortlisted candidates are often called for an interview. Be prepared to defend your personal statement and solve basic logic puzzles or math questions on a whiteboard under pressure.
