LUMS Merit Calculation Guide 2026: Holistic Admissions
Unlike traditional Pakistani universities that run purely on a robotic mathematical formula, LUMS uses an American-style "Holistic" admission process.
1. The SAT / LCAT Supremacy
LUMS does not use a strict 10% Matric / 50% FSc formula. They heavily prioritize your SAT score or their internal LCAT score. For top-tier programs like the Suleman Dawood School of Business (SDSB) or Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering (SBASSE), a SAT score below 1350 is highly dangerous. Aim for 1400+ to be in the "safe" zone regardless of FSc marks.
2. The Personal Statement Matters
At COMSATS, a computer checks your score. At LUMS, humans read your application. If you have a 1450 SAT but write a generic, ChatGPT-generated personal essay about "wanting to change the world," you will be rejected. You must write deeply personal, verifiable essays regarding your extracurricular activities, leadership traits, and unique worldview.
3. A-Level vs FSc Weighting
LUMS requires an average of at least 3 B's in A-Levels, or roughly 70%+ in FSc. They frequently issue conditional offers (e.g., "We accept you, provided your final FSc result doesn't drop below 70%"). Do not mentally abandon your FSc board exams just because you cleared the SAT.
