Universities are massive ecosystems. Dropping a wallet, laptop, or your official ID card can throw your entire week into chaos. Here is exactly what to do.
1. What to Do Immediately
First, retrace your steps to the last cafe or lecture hall you visited. If you left a laptop in a generic computer lab, ask the lab attendant immediately—they often lock forgotten items in their cabinets. Finally, broadcast the item on the CampusAxis Lost & Found community board, which tags students by department.
2. The Smart ID Card Replacement
If you lose a university Smart ID card, most universities (like Punjab University or NUST) strictly require an official Police FIR (First Information Report) before issuing a duplicate. Go to your local police station (or use an e-FIR portal if available) to declare it lost so it cannot be misused.
3. Preventing Theft
Never "reserve" library tables by leaving your expensive Dell/MacBook unmonitored while you go get lunch. Theft on large campuses is common, and the administration almost never takes responsibility for unmonitored belongings.
