Mental Health Tips for University Students — How to Stay Balanced
University life in Pakistan can be overwhelmingly stressful—balancing assignments, quizzes, societal expectations, and career planning takes a toll. Taking care of your mental health is as important as maintaining your CGPA.
1. Avoid the Burnout Trap
Don't pull all-nighters right before major exams. Lack of sleep severely affects cognitive function. Spread your study sessions across the week using the Pomodoro Technique (25 minutes of work followed by a 5-minute break).
2. Talk About Your Stress
If you're feeling overwhelmed, speak to university counselors if available, or confide in trusted friends and family. Acknowledging that you are stressed is the first step toward managing it.
3. Physical Health = Mental Health
- Hydrate: Especially during harsh Pakistani summers.
- Exercise: Even a daily 20-minute walk on campus can drastically reduce cortisol (stress hormone) levels.
Take it one step at a time. A single bad quiz does not define your entire academic career.
