Islamabad University Admissions 2026: Deadlines, Tests & Merit
Admissions in Islamabad are heavily dictated by strict centralized testing networks rather than generic board exam results.
1. The NTS Hub
Islamabad is the capital of the National Testing Service (NTS). COMSATS, IST, and several medical tech universities rely exclusively on the NAT. You must schedule your NAT in the Islamabad/Rawalpindi centers early, as they book out months in advance during the summer rush.
2. The NUST NET Cycles
If you want into NUST, you must adapt to their computer-based testing schedule. They hold the NET on computers at the H-12 campus across four different series (December to July). If you are travelling from out of town to take the test, book your travel early because H-12 gets absolutely swarmed during test weeks.
3. Navigating the Federal Quota
When applying to federal institutes like QAU, do not just apply "Open Merit." You must specifically apply under your geographical quota (e.g., FATA, Sindh (U), Punjab). Failing to check the quota box on the admission portal will frequently deny you a seat you mathematically deserved.
