IIUI GPA Guide 2026: Managing the Extra Load
Maintaining a high CGPA at IIUI requires managing an extended credit-hour load that other universities simply do not have.
1. The Arabic/Islamic Core Requirements
Regardless of whether you are studying Software Engineering or BBA, IIUI mandates that you pass mandatory Arabic Language, Islamic History, and standard Islamic ethics courses. These are not 1-credit "throwaway" subjects; they are rigorous 3-credit courses. Failing Arabic syntax will literally drag your Engineering GPA down to a 2.5.
2. Strict Absolute vs Relative Paradigms
Older IIUI faculty heavily favor strict absolute grading (80+ is an A, 70-79 is a B). In absolute grading, you must secure every possible singular mark from assignments and midterms, because there is no curve to save you if the entire class fails a tough midterm.
3. Attendance Leverage
IIUI strictly enforces attendance (often 75%). However, because grading can be deeply subjective in humanities/Islamic core subjects, building a respectful, highly visible rapport with your professor by sitting in the front row and participating aggressively biases the professor to round your 79% to an 80% (A-grade) at the end of the semester.
