How to Get Your First Internship as a Pakistani University Student
Sending your generic resume to [email protected] and praying will not land you an internship in 2026.
1. Build a Visible Portfolio
If you are in CS, you need a populated GitHub profile with at least 3 non-trivial projects (not just a calculator or a to-do list). If you are in Marketing, you need a portfolio of mock campaigns or social media management analytics. Companies hire interns who have already proven they can do basic work independently.
2. The LinkedIn Cold-Message Strategy
Find the HR Managers or Team Leads on LinkedIn for companies you want to intern at (e.g., Systems Ltd, Arbisoft, Jazz). Send a highly polite, 3-sentence message: "Hi [Name], I am a 6th-semester student specializing in React. I noticed your team works heavily in frontend infrastructure. Are you actively taking summer interns?"
3. Leverage University Job Fairs (Properly)
When your university hosts a job fair, do not just walk around collecting free pens. Print 10 copies of your resume. Actually talk to the technical lead sitting at the booth (not just the HR rep), explain exactly what technology stack you know, and hand them your resume directly.
