FAST-NUCES Merit Calculation Guide 2026 (For Upcoming CS/SE Admissions)
FAST (NUCES) remains the absolute top-tier destination for Computer Science in Pakistan. Their merit calculation is completely distinct from NTS-based universities.
1. The Standard NU Test Formula
If you are taking the proprietary NU Online Test, the merit weightage is strongly biased toward your entrance exam:
- NU Online Entry Test: 50% Weightage
- HSSC / A-Levels / FSc: 40% Weightage
- Matric / O-Levels: 10% Weightage
Note: Basic Math and Advanced Math (Calculus/Trigonometry) make up the vast majority of the Entry Test. Strong concepts here are mandatory.
2. Fast NAT/NTS Strategy
FAST does allow the NTS NAT basis, but they allocate a very limited percentage of seats to NTS applicants. The merit goes incredibly high (often 88-91%+). It is always recommended to take the NU test over relying solely on NTS to get admitted.
3. Negative Marking Danger
In the NU Entrance Test, there is a penalty for wrong answers (typically -0.25 marks per incorrect MCQ). Do not blind-guess. Only attempt questions you can narrow down to two options.
