Calculating your path to success...
Pakistan Institute of Engineering & Applied Sciences (PIEAS) admission test — syllabus, aggregate formula, preparation tips, and eligibility for one of Pakistan's most selective universities.
Aggregate = (FSc % × 0.50) + (Entry Test % × 0.50) — Matric marks are NOT included
PIEAS is a nuclear engineering institute — Physics carries the highest test weight. Go beyond FSc textbooks: study nuclear physics, quantum mechanics basics, and radiation fundamentals.
Calculus and algebraic proofs at a level beyond FSc are tested. Use BSc-level maths practice sets to raise your ceiling.
PIEAS selects ~30 students nationwide. Simulate the exam with strict timing and full papers — not topic-by-topic practice alone.
The analytical reasoning section rewards logical thinking more than memorization. Practice pattern sets and logical puzzles daily for 2–3 weeks.
The PIEAS admissions office issues a prospectus each year with the exact test format, sample questions, and selection criteria. Get it early.
PIEAS being under PAEC has specific health and security clearance requirements. Confirm all eligibility conditions before investing in preparation.
The PIEAS entry test is the admission test for the BS Nuclear Engineering program at Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Islamabad. PIEAS is a federal university under the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) and is one of Pakistan's most prestigious engineering institutions. The test covers Physics, Mathematics, English, and IQ.
The PIEAS aggregate is calculated as: FSc/Intermediate marks = 50% + PIEAS Entry Test = 50%. Note that Matric marks are NOT included in the PIEAS aggregate, unlike most other universities.
PIEAS is one of the most selective universities in Pakistan. Each year, only 30–50 students are typically selected for the BS program from thousands of nationwide applicants. A very high FSc percentage (93%+) combined with a strong entry test score is typically needed.
PIEAS primarily offers: BS Nuclear Engineering (4-year), BS Electrical Engineering, BS Computer Science, BS Physics, and various MS/PhD programs. The nuclear engineering program is PIEAS's flagship and most competitive offering.
PIEAS may provide sample papers through its official admissions office or prospectus. Practicing NTS NAT-IE papers and FSc-level Physics/Math papers is also recommended as they closely match the PIEAS test level.
PIEAS provides fully subsidized campus accommodation (hostel) for students. Being a government institute, it also offers needs-based and merit scholarships. Many PIEAS graduates also receive government-funded scholarships for MS/PhD studies abroad.
