Admissions at National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences (FAST-NUCES) are determined using a weighted composite aggregate of your academic qualifications and entry test performance.
To apply for undergraduate admission at FAST-NUCES, applicants must satisfy minimum intermediate mark criteria (typically 50% to 60% depending on degree discipline) and appear in the designated entrance test.
For BS Computer Science, Software Engineering, AI, and Data Science: Merit = (Matric % × 0.10) + (HSSC Part-1 % × 0.40) + (NU Test / NAT Score % × 0.50). For example: 85% Matric + 80% FSc + 70% in NU Test yields: 8.5 + 32.0 + 35.0 = 75.5% aggregate.
FAST accepts both the university's own NU Online Admission Test and NTS NAT. The NU Test includes Advance Math, Basic Math, English, and Analytical/IQ sections with negative marking (-0.25). Separate merit lists are announced for NU Test applicants and NTS NAT applicants.
Historically, BS Computer Science (CS) at FAST Islamabad closes around 76% - 80% on NU Test basis (88%+ on NTS basis). FAST Lahore CS closes around 74% - 78% on NU Test basis. Karachi and Peshawar campuses close slightly lower at 68% - 73%.
For BS Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering: Merit = (Matric % × 0.17) + (FSc % × 0.50) + (Entry Test % × 0.33).
For FAST Islamabad and Lahore campuses, a competitive aggregate for BS CS and Software Engineering is generally 75%+ on the NU Admission Test (requiring 60+ out of 100 on the test with 80%+ in FSc) or 88%+ on NTS NAT basis.
