PIEAS Admission & Merit Guide 2026
The Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS) is arguably the most prestigious institute for nuclear computing, physics, and electrical engineering. Here is how their merit system works in 2026.
1. The PIEAS Entry Test Structure
The entry test is famously difficult, focusing heavily on Physics and Mathematics. It is designed to test raw analytical ability rather than rote textbook memorization.
- The time limit is extremely tight.
- Negative marking (-1) is strictly enforced per wrong answer.
2. Merit Calculation Formula
PIEAS heavily prioritizes their own entry test over board marks:
- PIEAS Written Test: 60% Weightage
- O-Level / Matric Marks: 15% Weightage
- A-Level / FSc (Part 1) Marks: 25% Weightage
3. Merit Expectations
To secure a merit seat (regular fee), especially in Computer and Information Sciences (CIS) or Electrical Engineering, you must aim for a very high test score. Historically, the initial merit lists close rapidly.
