Karachi University Admissions 2026: Deadlines, Tests & Merit Guide
Karachi admissions operate on entirely different testing mechanisms and quota philosophies compared to Punjab.
1. The NED Entry Test
If you want engineering, the NED entry test is your absolute priority. It heavily features Sindh Textbook Board syllabus overlaps. If you prepared via Federal Board books, you must rapidly speed-read the Sindh board textbook equivalents for physics and chemistry to catch specific local syllabus variations.
2. The IBA Aptitude Test
IBA Karachi runs its own fiercely difficult Aptitude Test, focusing intensely on advanced English grammar, reading comprehension, and speed-math. It is structured much more like the American SAT than an FSc board exam. You cannot rote-memorize your way into IBA.
3. Karachi University (KU) Open vs Test Merit
KU admits tens of thousands of students. For general disciplines (like BA, regular BSc), admission is largely pure FSc merit-based. However, for high-demand programs (BS Computer Science, BS Software Engineering, BBA), KU mandates its own pre-admission entry test. Check the exact test requirement for your specific target department immediately in November.
