First Semester Survival Guide for Pakistani University Students — What Nobody Tells You
The leap from intermediate college to university is massive. You are no longer spoon-fed notes.
1. No One Cares If You Attend
Unlike college, teachers will not call your parents if you skip a lecture. They will simply mark you absent. If you hit the 20% absence threshold, you fail the course instantly by system default. Discipline must come from within.
2. Group Projects Will Test Your Patience
In FSc, you studied alone. In university, 40% of your grades rely on team projects. You will encounter "dead weight" team members who do zero work. You must learn to confront them early or aggressively do the work yourself to protect your grade.
3. Midterms Happen Faster Than You Think
The semester starts slow, but week 6 arrives abruptly. Do not treat the first month as a vacation. Start formatting your notes immediately, because when 5 courses drop midterms on the exact same week, cramming will destroy you.
