BBA vs B.Com in Pakistan: Which Is Better?
The traditional Commerce degree (B.Com) has completely collapsed against the modern BBA.
1. The Outdated B.Com Trap
Traditionally, B.Com was a 2-year degree. Even the modernized 4-year BS Commerce struggles with market perception. It is viewed by corporate HR as an outdated, deeply theoretical ledger-balancing degree. You will be restricted to low-tier back-office accounting roles, frequently competing against ACCA/CA students who will instantly outrank you mathematically.
2. The BBA Versatility
A BBA creates corporate flexibility. You study HR, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Finance combined with presentation skills. A BBA graduate applies to management trainee programs; a B.Com graduate usually applies to clerk positions. The presentation and case-study methodology taught in a BBA align directly with modern multi-national corporate demands.
3. The Institutional Filter
Where you get the degree matters infinitely more than the degree itself. A B.Com from Hailey College (PU) holds more weight than a BBA from an unranked private university in a plaza. However, if comparing the exact same mid-tier university, always select the BBA. It forces you to develop soft skills that the rote-learning structure of B.Com entirely ignores.
